The Colorado Rockies haven’t existed for long, yet somehow they almost always seem on the precipice of pivotal changing points. Oddly enough, despite their less-than-thirty-year-old existence, the ballclub of the Mile High City has carved out a pretty clear history defined by memorable short eras filled with intriguing characters. Here in 2021, we know one of these eras has ended…...

Your team needs to get more good players. It actually doesn’t matter which club you root for in MLB – or in any sport, really – because the statement remains just as true. It sure as hell doesn’t need to be pointed out to Colorado Rockies fans after an abysmal 2020 campaign. That statement, taken by itself though, isn’t particularly helpful. You’re just as aware that the team needs “more better players” as you are that they don’t have an unlimited budget or options or assets. So, unless you are currently in favor of the full tear-it-all-down, nuclear rebuild, burn-it-in-the-woods-and-hope-a-glorious-phoenix-rises-in-the-ashes method, you’re simply hoping that Colorado can add some quality to the roster this offseason. It would be swell if…

Welcome to our offseason series, Rox or Roll, where we take an overview of each Colorado Rockies player to determine their value and outlook moving forward. Does this player continue to represent the Rox? Or is his time with Colorado on the downswing and he should roll on up out of here? We begin where we must, at the top,...

It may have been a far cry from the franchise-record 96 wins prescribed before the season, but the Colorado Rockies had their share of highlights during a 26-34 (.433) campaign. While it would have taken just three more wins to get Colorado into the postseason, many felt the disappointing performances outnumbered the positive ones in the pursuit of the club’s first National League West pennant. And though it may seem that there are even more questions about the team than before the season began, several players rose to the challenge of an abbreviated schedule and made a mark on the organization during this weird and wild 2020 MLB Season. Since the Baseball Writers’ Association of America won’t be giving any…

In the coming days and weeks, we are all going to be inundated with autopsy reports on the Colorado Rockies’ 2020 campaign, one that started out soaring like an eagle before finally falling down and flopping around on its deathbed like a limp fish. Fingers will be pointed. Blame will be assessed. The same old fights will be had about...

We are all experiencing a bit of 20-20 vision here in 2020 as the Colorado Rockies came into this series against the San Diego Padres at 20-20 with 20 games to play. If you’ve long been a doubter of this team, your skepticism has been proven out in numerous stretches of ugly baseball. If you’ve long been a believer in...

Days away from the August 31 MLB Trade Deadline, the typical fervor and intrigue that surrounds this day may end up yet another harbinger that 2020 is a year unlike any other. Between the addition of six playoff spots that has turned every pretender into a contender and a shortened schedule that has allowed for the grandest of luck for small sample size, there are probably 12 teams prepared to answer calls on their best players. Of that dozen, only half could make a significant move. Rumors are swirling about everyone being up for grabs such as the likes of Philadelphia’s J.T. Realmuto, Boston’s J.D. Martinez and even Milwaukee’s Josh Hader. Since so much can change in a week -…

DNVR Rockies beat reporters Drew Creasman and Patrick Lyons battle for supremacy discussing various hot topics pertaining to the inhabitants of 2001 Blake Street as well all the scuttlebutt in and around the game of baseball. For those who started planning the parade for the Colorado Rockies following an 11-3 (.786) opening of the season, you may want to inquire about a refund. Sitting atop the sport with the best record of the game was a short-lived experience, but it was one that appeared believable with so much going right for the dudes of Denver. Since winning the opening five series of 2020, the Rockies have lost the last five, including a four-game sweep at the hands of the Houston…

When the Rockies were held scoreless on Friday night against the Texas Rangers, it snapped a National League record of 11 straight Opening Day games in which they had hit a home run. Considering the streak produced only three trips to the playoffs, such a detail should not warrant major conclusions about the future of this or any other season. We’re also talking one game in which anything can happen. Instead, let’s talk about three games. Fact David Dahl will in a National League batting title With all three hits on Opening Day and another in game two, Dahl extended his hitting streak to 12 games dating back to July 24, 2019. During that string of play, he batted .340…

A part of us has been missing. The cold of winter always brings hibernation to the baseball soul. Then, as short, dark days stretch into bristling spring with mornings that bloom into warm summer nights, we thaw out to the sounds of cracking bats and popping gloves and roaring crowds. After a brief hint of a taste of that normalcy, the world was suddenly upended, forced back into hibernation and, for the first time in most of our lives, the heat wave came without our beloved boys of summer. No cracking bats. No popping gloves. No roaring crowds. The silence was deafening. In its place arose an ugly quagmire of bitterness and mass anxiety about whether our game had been…

Let’s get bold. They say you can’t predict baseball and most of us spend a great deal of time trying to do so anyway. It’s fun to think about the most likely potential outcomes before a season even begins. But it might be even more fun to leave what is “likely” in the dust and focus on what is conceivably...

Who is Antonio Senzatela? The easy answer is that he is a 25-year-old right-handed pitcher expected to serve as the Colorado Rockies fourth man in the starting rotation in 2020. He has thrown 349.2 innings at the MLB level across three seasons and posted a record of 27-22, and an ERA of 5.33. He has struggled throughout his career to...

The best case scenario for the Colorado Rockies 2020 season is pretty simple. But it could also be remarkably fun for everyone involved so we are going to through it in detail. I once had a middle school teacher explain priorities using an analogy about filling up a large space with various sizes of rocks. The most important things in life – family, love, fulfillment, work, basic resources – these are the large boulders that take up, but also leave, the most space. Next you have smaller rocks like comfort, steadiness, desire, and friendship. As you move down the priority list you finally get to the grains of sand that fill everything in: fancy floral arrangements, walk-in closets, different shoes…
