Welcome back, Isaiah Stevens. The senior point guard made his season debut in Wednesday’s 87-71 win over Loyola Marymount. Had you gone into the night with no knowledge of his preseason injury, you wouldn’t have guessed he had one based on the way that he played. Stevens opened the game by draining a mid-range jumper and followed it up with a stepback three that was silky smooth. Not long after that, Stevens drove into the paint, went up, absorbed the contact and had the body control to finish through it. Although he only played 19 minutes in his first game back, Stevens displayed the same explosiveness and versatility that we’ve all become accustomed to seeing over the years. He finished…

Christmas came early for Colorado State men’s basketball. Isaiah Stevens will make his return to the lineup for the Rams against Loyola Marymount on Wednesday night. Head coach Niko Medved reached out to DNVR with the news on Wednesday morning. The senior point guard broke his foot shortly before the start of the regular season and was expected to miss most of, if not all of the non-conference slate. However, after recovering much quicker than anticipated, Stevens will be able to return to the floor with a minutes restriction this week.  https://twitter.com/JustinTMichael/status/1598034370702426112 A preseason all-conference selection and one of the country’s most talented point guards, the return of Stevens is massively important for a Rams squad that still has hopes…

The Colorado State men’s basketball team will be without one of the best point guards in the country for the foreseeable future. DNVR has confirmed that senior point guard Isaiah Stevens recently broke his foot and will have surgery this week to repair the injury. CSU later confirmed the news via release. “First and foremost, myself and the team feel terrible for Isaiah. He is a special player and a tremendous leader. We are confident that Isaiah will get through this and make a full recovery,” said head coach Niko Medved via press release. “While we know that his presence and leadership will be missed, I know this team will respond. We will continue to work diligently and we are really…

The Colorado State men’s basketball team has an opportunity to do something special this season. Last year the Rams became just the second group in school history to win 20 or more games in three consecutive seasons, joining Tiny Grant’s teams from 1987-1990. If CSU does it again in 2022-23, Niko Medved’s team will be the first to win 20...

Justin Michael is joined by the founder of HeatCheckCBB.com, Eli Boettger, and the two discuss his way-too-early projections for the upcoming Mountain West men’s basketball season. Eli explains why San Diego State is good enough to crack the top-15, why Wyoming may not be quite as dangerous as some think and why CSU should still be a dangerous group without David Roddy. Eli also gives some insight into why the additions of Josiah Strong and Patrick Cartier are significant, how he views Roddy as an NBA prospect, why the USC game is intriguing and more! LAS VEGAS — Not enough.  David Roddy, Isaiah Stevens and Chandler Jacobs combined for 52 points on 20-of-32 shooting in the Mountain West Conference semifinals Friday night.  The problem was that outside of that trio, everyone else on the floor for No. 23 Colorado State combined to make a total of two baskets. The Rams also missed half of their...

LAS VEGAS — Chandler Jacobs has found much more than just a new team this season, he has found a new home.  Coming out of Dallas Baptist University, where Jacobs became the program’s all-time leading scorer and made four consecutive trips to the NCAA Division II Tournament, the fifth-year guard had no shortage of DI offers to finish up his collegiate career. The thing is Jacobs did not want to end up just anywhere, he wanted to make the most of his final season of collegiate eligibility.  After briefly verbally committing to Texas Tech, Jacobs ultimately signed with Colorado State largely due to the relationship he established with Ali Farkokhmanesh throughout the recruiting process. According to Jacobs, in an industry filled…

LAS VEGAS — Survive and advance.  Utah Stave gave No. 23 Colorado State everything it could handle on Thursday night. But with 1.8 seconds remaining on the clock, Chandler Jacobs made the game–winning layup to give the Rams a 53-31 victory over the Aggies at the Thomas and Mack Center.  “Proud of our guys for finding a way to win,” Niko...

DENVER — The best in the Mountain West. David Roddy was named the conference player of the year by the league’s media on Monday. Roddy joins Gian Clavell (2017) and Mike Mitchell (1990) as the only players in program history to earn the prestigious award. Roddy received eight of the possible 11 first-place votes for the honor and 161 out of 165 possible points in the voting. https://twitter.com/DNVR_Rams/status/1500886929440706566 In what’s been a phenomenal season, the junior guard/forward out of Minneapolis, Minn., finished third in the league in scoring at 19.5 points per game. He was also sixth in rebounding (7.6 per game) and first in field goal percentage at 57.5 percent. When CSU went down to the Virgin Islands in November,…

DENVER — Kendle Moore entered Saturday night’s game at Utah State averaging just 5.5 points per game. With Colorado State possessing more talent than ever, the senior guard has predominantly had to take a back seat on the offensive end but has done so with grace. Playing in a hostile environment against the Aggies, with a potential Quad 1 win on...

DENVER — Colorado State (21-4, 11-4) was hot entering Saturday’s matchup with UNLV (16-11, 8-6). Winners in five straight overall and coming off back-to-back road victories, a win in Sin City would have gone a long way for the Rams in the race for the regular season Mountain West Championship, especially with two of the final three games taking place...
