Pain. For the sixth time in the last seven years, Wyoming will return to Laramie with the Bronze Boot. The Cowboys defeated the Rams 14-13 at Canvas Stadium Saturday night in a game that will sting for the local supporters for quite some time. The Rams had their chances and even led by double digits after jumping out to a 10-0 first-half lead. Unfortunately for a young Rams team that played extremely hard, a lot of the same struggles that have troubled them all season long ended up costing them big-time on Saturday night. Here’s how it all went down. Rams failed to capitalize on hot start The Rams drew blood first in this one. After the CSU defense forced…

Colorado State fell 28-16 to San Jose State in a frustrating game that ultimately got away from the Rams Saturday night. CSU racked up penalties, failed to execute in the Red Zone, and at times struggled to protect the quarterback as the Spartans produced nine sacks and 14 tackles for loss on the night. We already covered all of that...

Colorado State could have and probably should have beaten San Jose State on Saturday night. One week after getting bullied by Boise State in a completely one-sided game, CSU looked like a different team this weekend. As 24 point underdogs the Rams went into CEFCU Stadium and gave one of the more experienced and athletic teams in the Mountain West all they could handle. Playing against the best scoring defense in the conference, a group with multiple future pros in the front seven, the Rams put together their most balanced performance of the season with 469 yards of total offense. The defense made a ton of plays and gave the team a shot to pull off the major upset as…

Jack Howell and Henry Blackburn are integral to the future of Colorado State football. Role models in the locker room and playmakers on the field, CSU’s safety tandem is leading the way for a Rams team that is in the midst of a major transition. If you’ve watched the Rams at all this fall, regardless of the score, No. 17 and No. 11 are working their tails off to make plays for CSU and to give the team an opportunity to be competitive. Whether it’s coming up with a turnover, making a touchdown-saving tackle or just breaking up an opponent’s pass, the versatile pairing have really impressed with their constant effort. During his weekly press conference on Monday afternoon, Jay…

Boise State still owns Colorado State. The Broncos moved to 12-0 all-time against the Rams with a 49-10 beatdown of the Green & Gold Saturday night. In the 39-point victory the Broncos did whatever they wanted offensively and looked equally as impressive defensively. They gained 514 yards of total offense, scored on all seven trips to the Red Zone and converted on half of their third-down attempts. Conversely the Rams produced just 170 yards of offense, finished 1-of-12 on third down and ran 33 less plays than Boise State did. It was pretty much complete and total domination. This game was not as embarrassing as 2020, when CSU had multiple punts blocked in a 52-21 defeat, or when the Rams…

Boise State proved once again that they are the class of the Mountain West with a 49-10 beatdown of Colorado State on Saturday night. The Broncos moved the ball with ease against CSU and faced little resistance in what was a one-sided matchup. With freshman quarterback Taylen Green able to do whatever he wanted through the air, Boise State mounted drive after drive in this one. And when they got to the Red Zone, unlike the week before against Air Force, this time the Broncos capitalized with a plethora of rushing touchdowns. By halftime the Broncos had already outgained the visiting Rams by over 200 yards (321 vs. 109), and had established a three-score lead (28-10). Then in the second…

Justin Michael starts the show by discussing how Boise State has been a boogie man for Colorado State since the Broncos joined the Mountain West. He then goes over what we can take away from the 2021 matchup, including the importance of scoring points and burying Boise State if the opportunity presents itself. Finally, Justin talks about junior running back Avery Morrow and how his hot start in league play has him in rare company. If the Nevada transfer goes for 100 or more yards on the ground this week, he’ll be just the second CSU running back this decade to do so in four consecutive games. Avery Morrow has been the heartbeat of the Colorado State offense over the last month. With the Rams having to play three different quarterbacks in as many weeks, the passing production has been unsurprisingly inconsistent. A lack of roster continuity from week to week has definitely been a factor in CSU’s struggles to produce points this year in general. Fortunately for the Green & Gold, while the offense has been far from perfect, Morrow, a 5-foot-11, 210-pound junior running back that transferred over from Nevada this past offseason, has been running the ball like his life depends on every yard since the Rams broke into conference play. Morrow has 500 rushing yards on the season, which means he is halfway…

A’Jon Vivens has elected to leave the team due to personal reasons. The redshirt senior running back and 2022 team captain was not on the field with the Rams for Saturday’s win over Hawaii. Head coach Jay Norvell then confirmed the news during his postgame press conference. “A’Jon has decided to leave the team. He’s got some personal things going...

Colorado State has shown a lot of heart over the last month. The Rams have played three different quarterbacks in CSU’s three conference games — a situation that very easily could have been a disaster — especially after starting the season 0-4 in the non-conference slate. Despite the constant shuffling of the starting lineup and losing more than a dozen veteran players since the season has started, after overcoming a 10 point halftime deficit and beating Hawaii 17-13 on Saturday the Rams currently sit at 2-1 in the Mountain West (2-5 overall). Had a few plays gone differently on Homecoming against Utah State, CSU very easily could be undefeated in league play. Oct 22, 2022; Fort Collins, Colorado, USA; Colorado State…

Colorado State found a way on Saturday. The Rams trailed by 10 at halftime and appeared to be on the verge of a disappointing loss to Hawaii. After scoring just 3 points in the first 30 minutes of action though, CSU outscored the visiting Warriors 14-0 to come away with a 17-13 victory at Canvas Stadium. Going back to 1965, the Rams have trailed by double digits at halftime 186 times. Saturday is just the 12th time that CSU has come out victorious in that situation. “I’m just really proud of our football team, and the way they continue to fight, and really try to do the things we asked them to do,” Jay Norvell said postgame. “That was a…

Justin talks about how their situations are similar, as well as how they’re different. He also breaks down some goals for Millen in the second half of the year based on how those under guys progressed under Jay Norvell and Matt Mumme. Colorado State’s 17-13 loss to Utah State was frustrating on multiple levels.  The Rams had a great opportunity to move to 2-0 in conference play with another winnable game coming up against Hawaii. After losing the first four games of the year, the Rams had a chance to put themselves in position to at least try and make a run...
