After 99 days of an MLB-imposed lockout, the owners and players came together with a resolution that left both parties feeling positive.  The details of the…...

Jackie Robinson won the first Rookie of the Year Award in 1947. Forty years later, it was renamed to honor the Civil Rights trailblazer. Colorado may have developed many talented All-Stars during their time, but starting pitcher Jason Jennings is the only player to ever earn the prestigious award. Despite the lack of faith in Colorado’s farm system over the past few year, the crop of players in the 11-through 20 range have an opportunity to make tremendous leaps in the first minor league season since 2019. Only five players in this group have ever suited up for a Rockies’ affiliate as two come over in trades, two signed and sat out shortly before the pandemic and one was taken in the abbreviated 2020 MLB Draft. Much debate this offseason about the Colorado Rockies biggest needs this offseason. After a year in which so many things went so awry, it’s understandable for the club that went 71-91. It also underlines the fact that they also have more potential spread across the roster than some are willing to give them credit for. But potential is always trapped in the future. It has been suggested that the Rockies must prioritize adding a catcher and seeking improvements at starting pitcher and possibly center field, all of which make sense in a vacuum, but less so in context. If one was inclined to generalize, the easy answer is to say that the area in which Colorado most needs an upgrade…

After an incredibly slow build going into July 31, a lot of trades occurred on what will be baseball’s only trade deadline. Without the ability to deal players placed on revocable waivers as in seasons past, it was all or nothing once the clock struck 2pm MST. In the American League, juggernauts like the New York Yankees and Boston Red...
