BOULDER — The Buffs may have added the final piece of their roster on Monday.
Transfer guard J’Vonne Hadley announced on Twitter that he has committed to the Colorado Buffaloes ahead of the 2022-23 season. Hadley, a Minnesota native, played for Northeastern as a freshman and was a junior college All-American at Indian Hills Community College last season. He has three years of eligibility remaining.

Hadley was recruited as a 6-foot-6 combo guard out of high school, earning offers to South Dakota and Colorado State before committing to Northeastern. He played in 13 games and averaged 6 minutes. He was 5-for-17 from the field and 1-for-6 from behind the arc. He entered the transfer portal after the season.
Hadley committed to St. Thomas, a Minnesota school in the process of joining the Division I ranks, but ultimately decided to go the JuCo route instead. The decision paid off; Hadley posted 10.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists while shooting 54.8% from the floor and 35.4% from three on two deep attempts per game. He was a three-time conference player of the week winner and one of 10 JuCo first-team all-Americans.
At Colorado, Hadley should be a versatile option. While he doesn’t have traits that blow you away, he’s a capable finisher around the rim, a high-IQ passer in the post, a solid shooter and a good defender. He’s a jack-of-all trades.
The Buffs have a young guard rotation and are fairly short-handed at small forward too, depending on which forward spot you prefer Tristan da Silva. Hadley will serve as another option at the two and the three, and he provides a fairly high floor coming off the bench. With three years of eligibility left, Hadley has plenty of time adapt to Pac-12 play if he isn’t a part of the rotation this season.
Colorado is currently sitting on a full scholarship roster. That could change if star forward Jabari Walker continues with his plans to go pro over the summer. If he leaves for the NBA, the Buffs would have one more scholarship to fill before the season. Walker must make a decision by June 1.
