The Colorado Buffaloes wrap up the 2022 season on Saturday against the Utah Utes and thus begins the bitter-sweet process of saying goodbye to this year’s seniors. In his weekly press conference on Tuesday, interim head coach Mike Sanford mentioned each and every senior that will be suiting up as a Buff for the last time this weekend. The 18 seniors that will be honored on Saturday are Daniel Arias, Robert Barnes, Derek Bedell, Tommy Brown, Josh Chandler-Semedo, Frank Filip, Alex Fontenot, Justin Jackson, Jaylon Jackson, Terrance Lang, Isaiah Lewis, Anthony Lyle, Jamar Montgomery, Quinn Perry, Brady Russell, RJ Sneed, Jaylen Striker, Guy Thomas and Mac Willis. Speaking after practice on Tuesday, Brady Russell opened up about his feelings for…

Vlatko Čančar – A+ Who are you going to call? Down Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr., Bones Hyland, and Jeff Green — Vlatko heard his number called again. He’s growing famous now for stepping up when the Nuggets are so shorthanded, but this time, he made an earnest bid for something more than end-of-bench glory. Vlatko played an essential role in the victory in Oklahoma City, busting out saucy reverses off the bench and taking on a leadership role in the non-Jokić minutes. As Shai Gilgeous-Alexander dispatched Malone’s best perimeter defenders one by one, the Slovenian Sensation stepped up. And then he locked him down. Čančar was paying attention. He knew where SGA had killed them all night and put…

Andrew Cogliano – C You know the team is beat up and in rough shape when Cogliano is taking a shift with the team four on four. That would never even come close to happening with a full roster. Just doing his best to play above his ceiling until guys get back. J.T. Compher – B+ Great play on the second Mikko goal to tap the puck over to him on a battle in front. He had a pretty solid night overall, but the clean face-off loss on the Canucks second goal stings a bit. Speaking of stinging, his leg is going to be sore after that massive block on the penalty kill late in the second period. Pavel Francouz…

There’s always a fun vibe in the air when you’re at Ball Arena for a Colorado Avalanche game the night before a major holiday.  I can’t really describe it, but it’s kind of like the energy that everyone had for a “last day of school” assembly.  Add in the fact that the Avs were coming into their matchup with the...

Cody Bellinger, center fielder for the Colorado Rockies. It has an interesting ring to it. A notable player coming from a premier team to find his way in Denver – and not the other way around – would be nothing short of a shocker. Yet, those odds drastically increased last Friday when Bellinger was non-tendered by the Los Angeles Dodgers and made a completely unencumbered free agent at the age of 27. Before creating a scenario in which Colorado signs the former National League MVP, let’s recognize that Bellinger is not the same player that received 19 first-place votes and 362 points in 2019 to become the 18th Rookie of the Year to also win the MVP Award. No, Bellinger…

Nikola Jokić – A+ Jokić returned to the lineup after clearing health and safety protocols and didn’t skip a beat in a dominant performance. His highly efficient 31-9-10 set the tone for the starters, who ultimately did enough to win. It was like he never left—he was the best player on the floor, and disaster struck whenever he sat. Through no fault of his, he was too uninvolved in the final possessions of a game he’d controlled. His teammates took matters into their own hands. Jokić was aggressive and took 11 attempts at the free-throw line. He did miss four, to nit-pick, and Denver missed nine as a team in a two-point loss. Jamal Murray – D Murray was in…

DENVER, Colo. — Another Sunday to forget. The Broncos lost for the seventh time in their last eight games this week, this time against the Las Vegas Raiders. The Broncos are now 3-7 this season and have been swept by the Raiders. Here’s how the Broncos graded out: OFFENSE QB Russell Wilson – C+ Russell Wilson’s first half may have...

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — George Paton had a busy day. The Broncos made five transactions on Tuesday: They signed linebacker Dakota Allen, 27, from the Browns’ practice squad. They placed running back Chase Edmonds on injured reserve with an ankle injury. They signed running back Tyreik McAllister and linebacker Ray Wilborn to their practice squad. They released linebacker Harvey Langi from their practice squad.Additionally, running back Melvin Gordon cleared waivers. That means no team was interested in claiming his contract, which would have cost $836,111 for the rest of the season, plus $102,941 per game that he was active. He can now sign a new deal with any team. Linebacker Dakota Allen, who the Broncos signed to their active roster from the Browns’ practice…

Anton Blidh – B+ Not much more you can ask from a fourth liner than to not be on the ice for a single shot attempt against. Had a breakaway in the third period but…he’s not a goal scorer, let’s just say that. Not sure he was the real driver, but +11/-0 in less than five minutes is impressive. Andrew Cogliano – B An incredibly low event game from him at both ends of the ice, but had a great setup to Compher in the slot in the first period that was stopped. J.T. Compher – B That entire line was so low event that it’s kind of crazy, considering they played a fair amount. Had that good look in…

Colorado closed out the final leg of their three-game road trip against the Dallas Stars. Both teams entered tonight’s contest on a two-game win streak and hungry to take coveted division points. In the division, Colorado was just behind Dallas at the number two spot with 21 points. Though on a win streak, the Avs crawled into tonight’s game battling the same absences as before: Gabriel Landeskog, Val Nichushkin, Darren Helm, Sam Girard, Kurtis MacDermid, and Bo Byram all remain out of the lineup. Alexandar Georgiev’s outstanding play has soothed their troubles. He posted a shutout against the Washington Capitals in Saturday’s 4-0 win and earned the start again tonight. Dallas stacked up well on paper too. The top-heavy Stars…
