The Colorado Rockies farm system is not strong enough. What strength there is lies primarily in the lower levels and is, therefore, several years from MLB. The big league club has been stupendous at home but so terrible on the road that it all amounts to a club well under .500 that is now claiming intentions to try to compete...

The biggest indicator of future success for the Colorado Rockies will weigh heavily on this group of 1st and 2nd round selections, as all are aged 22-23. None of these four have played above A-ball, two have 40 or so games from short-season ball, and one is among the smallest group of draftees in the history of baseball. (Thanks, COVID-19.) There’s a good chance throughout the 2021 MiLB season – scheduled to begin on May 4th across the Rockies’ four affiliates – you’ll be seeing the names below on a nearly nightly basis string together multi-hit performances and smile-inducing statistics. On Sunday, Colorado announced the 52 members in their player pool for the 2020 season. Due to the delayed start of the season, coupled with a shortened 60-game schedule and all the complications that come along with it, each team will operate with a 60-man roster. While the Rockies did not utilize all 60 spots, it is much easier to add players through the season than to remove one as removing participants from the expanded roster will be similar to the rules that govern the 40-man roster. Once the season begins on July 23 or 24, teams will operate the first two weeks with a 30-man active roster, followed by a 28-man roster for the next two weeks, and a…
