Just two days after Derek Wolfe left Denver Broncos training camp on a cart, another starting defensive end suffered the same fate.
Jared Crick went down during a running play in team drills, Monday, and was carted off the field. No more information is available at this time, but Vance Joseph should at least share what Crick Injured during his post-practice presser.
According to Mike Klis, Crick suffered a back injury and is getting an MRI.
Injuries have already taken a toll the Broncos’ defensive depth. Crick joins Wolfe, Shane Ray, Shaq Barrett, Billy Winn, Todd Davis, T.J. Ward and Kyle Peko as players currently sidelined with various ailments.
Second-year lineman Adam Gotsis is the lead candidate to replace Crick in the starting lineup, if necessary.
Crick started 15 games last season, his first as a Bronco. He accumulated three sacks, 53 tackles, and forced a fumble in 2016. Crick spent the four previous years opposite J.J. Watt in Houston, where he totaled 3.5 sacks.
The 27-year-old was selected by the Texans in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft out of him Nebraska. Crick posted 9.5 sacks in both his sophomore and junior seasons, before missing most of his season year with injuries.
