Shenault suspended indefinitely for violating team rules

BOULDER — La’Vontae Shenault didn’t play in Colorado’s Week 2 loss vs. Texas A&M.

Now we know why.

Shenault, a third-year freshman wide receiver is suspended indefinitely, head coach Karl Dorrell announced Monday. The suspension stems from a “violation of team and athletic department rules,” the release says. The athletic department typically doesn’t elaborate on the cause for suspensions and this case is no different.

Shenault was Colorado’s second-leading receiver in 2020, finishing behind only Dimitri Stanley. He caught to passes for 23 yards in the season-opener.

This is Shenault’s third suspension. The first came before the 2020 season-opener for being arrest for DUI. The second was for the Alamo Bowl in December for violation of athletic department policy.

There’s no doubt that Shenault is talented but he may be running out of second-chances in Boulder
