The long awaited 2026 season opener is right around the corner for CSU Football.

Eager to put a miserable year in the rearview, and move on to a new chapter in the Pac-12, the Colorado State faithful could not be more ready to have actual games to talk about again. It’s a long offseason when a team’s head coach gets fired in October. And after months of anticipation, speculation, and projection, seeing games on the calendar is truly a site for sore eyes.

Here are four questions we still have about the team as we move closer to Jim Mora’s debut.

Who will be the starting quarterback?

Practice was closed to the media this week, so it’s possible that we’ve seen the last reps we’ll get to see ahead of the Wyoming game.

Maybe Mora will publicly name the starting quarterback in a press conference early next week. Or maybe we’ll all find out together when the offense runs out onto the field for the first time on Sept. 5th.

Regardless of whether it’s Hauss Hejny, K’Saan Farrar, or even one of the other young QB’s on the roster, it’s imperative that CSU finds some consistency with the position. Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi had real arm talent but never put it all together for a variety of reasons. That can’t be the case this time around.

Both Hejny and Farrar have done their part in making this competition interesting. Both seem to be options that CSU could realistically win with. My gut says that Hejny is too athletic to keep on the sideline, though.
