Listen intently, but observe to verify…the Nuggets drafted 3 shooters in the first 18 picks of this year’s draft because they need a big upgrade in outside shooting from the backcourt and the wing. Therefore, if Murray and/or Juancho shoot 45% per game, they will earn 20-26 min per game this year. Malone has taken the correct path in encouraging and expecting Mudiay to assert himself as the leader by being vocal and by being more aggressive to the basket. This encouragement is not a Green Light to jack up shots with poor efficiency, but to mature as a power/breakdown Lebron-like/lite point guard. If Mudiay struggles with his efficiency, at times, he will see a reduction in his minutes. If Mudiay increases his efficiency, he will reflect and honor Larry Brown’s analysis of him as “the best young point guard I have ever seen”. Overall, I trust Coach Malone’s ability to hold all of our talented young guards-Mudiay, Harris, Murray plus Beasley- accountable. Thanks Coach…the Nuggets are going to be the surprise Playoff team this year.

If either Hernangomez, or Murray shoot 45% from three they better get a whole lot more than 20-26 minutes per game. But generally agree with your points. One of their goals was to get better from three and they definitely accomplished that this summer.

I am not overly concerned with Mudiay TOs or even low FG%, those are expected from young PGs learning to steer NBA. He was good pick.
BUT him leading Nuggets FGAttempts at this stage is just insane, bricking 15+ FGA are enough to ruin top performances from rest of starters

Exactly…I think he is a great pick and I am excited about his skill set and potential. One of my points, in addition to yours, is that he views himself as an “Alpha” mentality player (which is great), but he has not assumed full responsibility yet in his play to earn that Leadership role. Of course, the season just has begun, but my focus with Mudiay is: has he been “listening” to Malone? Let’s hope that his efficiency in the Toronto game was more of an exception this year rather than his rule.
