BOULDER — Bad news, Buffs fans.
One of Colorado’s top commits in the 2023 class, Naquil Betrand, announced on Twitter Wednesday that he is considering signing with 10 colleges. Betrand committed to CU in March but has since received offers from several big-name schools, which prompted his decision to reconsider.

Betrand is a 6-foot-7, 310-pound tackle prospect out of Philadelphia. According to 247Sports, Betrand only had Power 5 offers from Washington and Colorado when he committed to CU. At the time, he wasn’t rated by the recruiting services. Since then, he’s picked up offers from Georgia, Auburn and Texas A&M among others, and he’s currently the 74th-ranked tackle prospect in his class according to 247Sports.
Colorado currently has 10 commitments in its 2023 class. According to the 247Sports rankings, Betrand is the second-highest-rated player in the class, but four players are right behind him.
The Buffs will now compete with Texas A&M, Georgia, Kentucky, Auburn, Syracuse, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Maryland and Boston College for Betrand’s services. Colorado got in early and that should serve them well in this process, though competing with the money schools like A&M can offer leaves the Buffs with an uphill battle. Even if Betrand attends another school, CU should be on the shortlist if he enters the transfer portal in the future.
