NFL rosters were cut from 80 players to 53 players on Saturday and 24 hours later, most practice squads have been filled.

The NFL typically allows teams to hold 12 players in practice squads but that number was expanded to 16 this season because of the increased likelihood of players missing games. The NFL is also allowing eligibility for any players to join practice squads instead of only allowing players in their first three professional seasons.
