DNVR Exclusive: Updated injury news on Mikko Rantanen and Colin Wilson

The Avs forward core is depleted right now…but there may be help on the way when they return home from their road trip.

Mikko Rantanen, who has been skating for a little while now, was out working with Avs skills coach Shawn Allard at the Avs practice facility in Centennial on Thursday morning. He was joined by veteran winger Colin Wilson, who has not played since October 26 against Anaheim.

This is the first time it has been confirmed that Wilson has hit the ice. He has been out due to a lower body injury and was skating laps hard in order to test out the injury.

Rantanen, who had 12 points in nine games prior to injuring his leg against St. Louis on October 21, was doing a lot of puck work with Shawn Allard and was trying to test out that injured leg as much as he could.

Wilson stayed on the ice for about 30 minutes, while Rantanen stayed out for about an hour with Allard, working with the puck to get his hands back.

One guy who was not present was captain Gabriel Landeskog. There has not been any update on his injury and what the timeframe for his return may be.

The Avalanche finish off their road trip on Thursday night in Minnesota before returning home. They are scheduled to practice on Friday afternoon, so we will see if any of these injured players join them on the ice.

Here are some videos of Rantanen and Wilson skating. Stay tuned to DNVR for your Avalanche news.
