Andre Simone, Henry Chisholm, Justin Michael and Jake Schwanitz break down the strengths and weaknesses in the 2021 class of edge rushers.

Henry joined BSN Denver as a remote staff writer in 2017, providing support to BSN's Broncos beat reporters. He interned at BSN headquarters in the summer of 2018 and accepted a full-time position after graduating from UM.

  • What up fellas! Long time no speak. I posted this a month ago, but it wasn’t read out for whatever reason. Maybe I missed the deadline. Things have slightly changed now, in that I have watched a lot of tape now (especially on QBs), but this is what I wrote a month ago..

Sorry for the absence, just been flat out with work, and, errrrr, the PS4 DNVR Madden League, which still has spots available if anyone wants in. A not-so-humble plug there, ha!

Anyhow, I’m usually pretty good, for someone this side of the pond, on College Prospects, but this year, I have watched hardly anything, so I need some help. I’m just scratching the surface on tape watching, but here are some potential 1st round players that intrigue me and who I would like your views on (again, cause they might have changed)

Patrick Surtain – don’t like him at 9, but respect him. I’ve watched some games where he gets turned around and beaten deep though. Have you guys noticed that at all?

Caleb Farley – yeah, he looks amazing, but how many back surgeries has he had? A bit worried about him at 9. Way too high for me, based on the risk.

Trevon Moehrig – quickly becoming one of my favourite players in this draft. I know it’s not a need, but if we trade back and pick him, dang we have a great player in the making, and a replacement for Jackson.

Micah Parsons – if Broncos are fine with off-field hazing, then oh my! This guy could be the best player in the draft. I reckon our locker-room could handle a little bit of cock grabbin’, lol

Gregory Rousseau – he looked unbelievable at times 2 years ago. Too small to play 34DE for me, and not got the frame to expand enough, but could he learn to cover and be a Von Miller understudy? Maybe. But if that’s the plan, hell no at No 9.

So then, aside from Sewell, top 4/5 QBs, a handful of WRs, and Kyle Pitts, I don’t think there is anyone worth picking at 9, that we wouldn’t have a great chance at picking later, so for me, if Sewell isn’t there (he wont be), then it’s trade back. We could get a haul if we play it right.

QBs? Don’t need one, we have one, and we’ll know what we have in Lock at the end of the year. We cry about our QBs over last 5 years, and when one shows promise, half of Broncos Country wants to move on after one difficult year. Let’s give him this year, guys and gals, we’ll then know at the end of the year if he is the answer, but in the mean time, get behind him and show him our support (if you want him to succeed)

Peace out and love to all

  • So on the QB front…

I wanted another year of Lock, and amazed others don’t. It’s QB Silly Season again, where people overdraft the hell out of them, and then spend the next few years recovering.

I am getting quite a lot of heat in the Broncos Pod, for my take on Trey Lance, and wanted your thoughts.

Ok, I’ll just say it, he is one of the worst ‘talked-about-top-10-prospects’ I have ever seen. He is literally a Day 3 QB, but given the position, people bump him to Day 1. It’s nuts! I have watched 3 highlights videos on him now, and not watched a single full game. My argument, is if I literally can not find ANYTHING of note, that translates to an NFL calibre QB, then do I need to watch full games on him?

All I have seen is MANY scrambles for big yardage or TDs, against Missouri Valley Schools, that would NEVER happen in the NFL; he’d be lit up and be in the medical tent quicker than you can say “Route Progression” or “Stay in School”

Then there are his throws. I think I’ve seen two that could be described as NFL level QB throws. All others, yes, ALL, are to open receivers. I don’t give the QB any credit for making those throws. Tight window throws are required, this is the NFL, not Missouri Valley. No wonder he didn’t throw a pick in college, lmao.

I know the US has gone crazy with Sports Gambling, which I find totally bizarre as someone from the UK (all my US Podcasts go on and on about gambling now), as we’ve always had this, but there is no need to extend this new found love for sports risk to our QB position.

I know you guys are Professional Draft Analysts, and you do this for a living, so you can’t have opinions too polarizing, especially as Lance COULD become an NFL Elite, and someone would dig up old info where you panned a guy, but please tell me I am wrong?! This kid should NOT go in Round 1, unless a GM particularly likes Russian Roulette

Peace out fellas, and feel free to rip me to shreds like everyone else is doing. I’ll have the last laugh, probably 🤷🤣
