Update: Ben’Jarvius Shumaker flipped his commitment back to Ole Miss from Colorado.
The Colorado football team just picked up arguably its biggest recruiting win of the offseason.
Four-star defensive lineman Ben’Jarvius Shumaker flipped his commitment from Ole Miss to the Buffs on Tuesday. The 6-foot-3, 270-pounder is a top-100 recruit and top-10 DL in the 2027 class.
Shumaker had been committed to Ole Miss since March but took a surprise official visit to Boulder last weekend. Colorado football fans thought they were out of the running when Shumaker announced he was shutting down his recruitment with the Rebels on Monday.
Less than 24 hours later, the Buffs flipped their second SEC recruit this month. Three-star offensive lineman Coderro McDaniel flipped his commitment from Ole Miss on Colorado on June 14.
Shumaker racked up 24 TFLs to go along with 8.5 sacks as a junior in 2025 and is the highest-ranked recruit in Colorado’s 2027 class. He joins the Buffs’ recruiting haul just a day after they lost three-star offensive lineman Jaiden Lindsay to North Carolina.
Colorado now has 16 commits and four blue-chip recruits in its 2027 class (second-most in Big 12), according to Rivals, with plenty of other uncommitted prospects on their radar.
Here’s a look at the Buffs’ remaining targets on their recruiting board.
OL Antonio Berry
Berry is a four-star interior offensive lineman from Tupelo, Mississippi who took an official visit to Colorado last month. The 6-foot-5, 280-pounder is viewed by many as one of the top IOL in the country with schools like Alabama and Florida vying for his services.
The Buffs might turn the heat up even more on Berry after losing out on Jaiden Lindsay. Berry is high school teammates with Colorado RB target Kylan Bobo and the Buffs currently have serious momentum in the state of Mississippi.
OL Nate Carson
Carson was the headliner of an official visit weekend earlier this month and for good reason. The four-star offensive tackle is deciding between the Buffs and a handful of SEC schools (Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M). He is announcing his commitment on July 3.
OL Dewey Young
Young is another blue-chip offensive lineman who the Colorado football team is trying to land. The four-star OT visited Boulder last month and the Buffs have prioritized him from the start. Georgia and Syracuse are in the mix but Colorado is in good shape for Young’s commitment.
OL Bryson Hurt
Hurt is a three-star interior offensive lineman who visited Colorado last month. The 6-foot-4, 300-pounder has the Buffs in his final four along with Georgia, NC State and West Virginia. He’s another example of the Colorado football team focusing on recruiting the trenches.
RB Kylan Bobo
The aforementioned Bobo has a highly-anticipated commitment date of July 1. The three-star RB rushed for 1,726 yards and 28 TDs as a junior in 2025. He has a final four of Colorado, Arkansas, Memphis and Minnesota. Bobo is a top priority after the Buffs lost 2027 RB Steven Alexis to Illinois.
ATH Marquis Fennell
Fennell is another top target with an upcoming commitment date (June 25). The three-star ATH racked up 1,480 rushing yards and 23 TDs to go along with 53 catches for 764 yards and 10 more TDs in 2025. He will decide between the Colorado football team, Florida State, Georgia Tech and Stanford.
WR Ryan Ferdinand
Ferdinand is a three-star WR who could announce his commitment at any moment. The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder visited Boulder earlier this month before taking trips to Tulane, NC State and Cincinnati. Colorado still only has one WR commit in the 2027 class (four-star Jaiden Kelly-Murray).
WR Nick Weaver
Weaver was in Boulder for an official visit last weekend after earning a Colorado offer at a camp earlier this month. The 6-foot-3, 175-pounder is an unheralded recruit who the Buffs see long-term potential in.
LB Jahmiere Daniels-Portis
Daniels-Portis visited Boulder earlier this month and has Colorado in his final five. The Buffs will have to beat out Cincinnati, Illinois, Indiana and NC State for the three-star linebacker.
LB Kaylon Bailey
Bailey, like Daniels-Portis, is a three-star linebacker from the state of Ohio who visited Colorado earlier this month. The 6-foot-1, 225-pounder holds offers from the likes of Ohio State, Louisville, South Florida and others.
