Why Jaiden Lindsay believes Colorado football’s 2027 recruiting class will put Buffs ‘on the map’

Jaiden Lindsay got the Colorado football party started last weekend.

The three-star offensive lineman committed to the Buffs on Saturday during his official visit, choosing them over offers from Indiana, Maryland, Penn State, Virginia Tech and others. Four other 2027 recruits announced their commitment to Colorado in the 24 hours after Lindsay did.

It was the culmination of another massive recruiting weekend for the Buffs, one that had Jaiden Lindsay feeling like he was at home.

“Ever since I went on my spring visit (in April), Colorado was my number one school; I fell in love with it,” Jaiden Lindsay told DNVR. “Just going up there and seeing the family feel, the coaches who have done what you want do and been where you want to be, that’s what made me feel like it’s the right spot.”

“They made sure I felt like family. The family feel, culture and coaches are different. You won’t find it anywhere else.”

Lindsay said his favorite part of the weekend was talking with Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders, but he likely wouldn’t be a Buff without another Colorado staff member. Rashad Rich was hired as the Buffs’ director of recruiting this offseason and he’s a big reason why Colorado is in the midst of its biggest high school recruiting heater of the Coach Prime era.

The former Penn State recruiting coordinator worked to enhanced the Nittany Lions’ influence in the DMV (District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia) area. That experience helped Rich and the Buffs land Lindsay.

“If Coach Rich wasn’t there, there wouldn’t be a Colorado,” Jaiden Lindsay — who’s from Olney, Maryland — told DNVR. “There’s not really a big connection from Colorado to Maryland. He’s from Maryland so he started that connection. If there wasn’t no Coach Rich, I wouldn’t be in this position.”

Lindsay is a 6-foot-3, 300-pound interior offensive lineman who checks a lot of the boxes Colorado is looking for. According to him, though, his best attribute is his rare athleticism for a large human.

“I’m the most athletic offensive lineman in the country,” Jaiden Lindsay told DNVR. “You turn on the tape, I finish every play and I’m dominant every play.”

The Buffs will need a few more physical specimens like Lindsay to get where they want to go. Zaquan Linton fits that description.

A former Miami commit, Linton is a 6-foot-5, 300-pound OL who committed to Colorado about eight hours after Lindsay did while on his official visit. Linton had offers from Florida, Kentucky, UCF and others and is the Buffs’ third OL commit in the 2027 class.

LB/EDGE Jovon Pulliam, RB Steven Alexis and DB Samari Howard also committed to Colorado during their official visits, giving the Buffs five commits on the weekend and bringing their 2027 class to 14 recruits.

Lindsay was able to get a head start on building a bond with his future teammates.

“I got to know the commits a little more and see why they came to Colorado,” Jaiden Lindsay told DNVR. “Building that friendship, that relationship with them is big.

“We’re putting people on notice, why not Colorado? We have coaches who did it, a great family feel and culture.”

Colorado currently has the No. 38-ranked recruiting class in the country (No. 3 in Big 12), according to Rivals, and another big weekend of 2027 visitors coming up. This class has the chance to be program-changing when it’s all said and done.

“It’s going to be the best,” Jaiden Lindsay said of Colorado’s 2027 class. “This class right here is really going to put Colorado on the map. It’s going to really make people think ‘they have all these freshmen playing early, why shouldn’t I be thinking about this school?'”
