What would be your odds on CU landing Bentley and are there other QBs in the portal that you think CU has interest in

I think Colorado will have to make calls on all the big-name QBs and there are quite a few. D’Eriq King from Houston would be an AMAZING get and would help transition the offense toward a more dual-threat friendly system for Lewis, who would likely redshirt. Who knows if he’ll even transfer though. And if he does, there’ll be plenty of programs interested.

Anthony Brown of Boston College announced he was entering the portal today. Definitely another name worth watching. He’s a grad transfer. Dual-threat. Seems like Colorado could be about the caliber of program to land him.

Nick Starkel could also be an interesting option. He’s bounced around a lot but Colorado seems like a decent landing spot for his final year.

Honestly, there are a lot of options.

Even guys like Tate Martell, Felipe Franks or JT Daniels could wind up being options. I don’t believe any of the three could be a grad transfer but it’s been so easy for quarterbacks to get waivers so they can play Year 1 that it might be worth the risk. I’d guess that the Buffs wouldn’t risk it since they’re up against the scholarship limit, but who knows.

I think after signing day, when Brendon Lewis is locked down and can’t be scared off by a QB competition, we’ll start to hear more about the options.

Forgot to mention: Bentley committed to Utah shortly after this story was posted. So he’s out.

Leaning Lewis so he has experience going into the big year, year 3.

I think this would be my favorite scenario. It might mean a win or two less in 2019 but it would be so much fun to see what the freshman could do. Plus, it would likely pay off down the line. Mel has another year to slowplay it if he wants to.

Bentley to Utah. Also don’t think we have room for any more transfers until the summer or beginning of the fall (due to 25 scholly limit per class). Which hurts the chances at a good grad transfer QB. It will be Lytle or Lewis in my opinion

It’s crazy that Bentley announced his decision 90 minutes after this posted. There are other options, but the Buffs are right up against the scholarship limits. If the right QB pops up, I’m sure they’ll find a way though.
