Marches and protests have been organized across the United States over the last nine days following the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis Police Department officers.
There have been daily marches in Denver since Floyd’s death but the University of Colorado athletics department is the first local sports organization to organize a march of its own.
Denver Broncos safety Kareem Jackson noted this week that he was interested in organizing a Broncos-led rally in Denver sometime in the next couple of weeks.
Senior wide receiver K.D. Nixon has been notably outspoken about the state of race relations in the United States in recent days, including in this interview with Pac-12 Networks:
Start today by showing love and respect. 💯@Superstarnixon explains how paying it forward can impact others and advance the conversation. Hear the full interview tonight on Pac-12 Playlist at 7 PT/ 8 MT. pic.twitter.com/rXnCCAvf1i

Power forward Evan Battey has also spoken up.
told my team that we have a responsibility to ourselves, each other, and the community to be a part of the change. Imo, it starts with the youth. I just hope one day when we have kids, we will teach them to not see color but see humans for what they really are. Love is love.
