Courtland Sutton is off to a slow start in his ninth NFL season.
Sutton enters Thursday’s game against Seattle with 11 catches for 104 yards and one touchdown through five games. He’s never had fewer than 160 yards in his first five games of a season, including his rookie year when he was the third option behind Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders.
Sutton has yet to catch more than three passes in a game or reach 50 receiving yards.
After consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, including 74 catches for 1,017 yards and seven touchdowns last year, the dropoff is massive.
Offensive coordinator Davis Webb acknowledged the frustration that can accompany a slow start.
“I mean, he should be frustrated ’cause we need him to make plays,” Webb said. “I think it’s coming right down the alley for him.”
