Quinn Meinerz is a back-to-back first-team All-Pro. In other words, he’s the best right guard in the world.

This week, he’s getting ready for his toughest matchup of the season.

“Preparing for the best in the world,” Meinerz said.

The Broncos’ right guard spoke with DNVR about the challenge Aaron Donald presents, Denver’s evolving run game, and the pancake block he delivered last week that picked up steam on social media.

Q: Aaron Donald this week. Have you played against him before?

Meinerz: No, I have not. When we played the Rams in ’22, he was hurt. So I have not played him quite yet.

Q: What’s it like preparing for him?

Meinerz: Preparing for the best in the world.

Aaron Donald looks like Aaron Donald, and he’s going to be a handful.

Q: It’s probably more fun watching him when you don’t have to deal with him, right?

Meinerz: Yeah. It’s going to be a challenge. It’s going to be, bring your lunch pail every play. He’s a good player.

Q: What do you think of where the run game is at right now?

Meinerz: I mean, we just need to keep building more opportunities. I think it’s too early to say who we are or aren’t yet.

It’s September, so we’re still finding that identity, I would say.

Q: There have been a lot of different formations and motions in the run game. Is it fun for you guys up front to have so much happening behind you?

Meinerz: Yeah. Having a creative run game makes things multiple, and that way you can change it up from there, make things look like something that they’re not. Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t.

Keeping the defense guessing is a crucial part. And when you have everyone on the same page, it makes our job a lot easier on the O-line because we don’t know what’s going on, really, behind us.
