The Broncos just drafted their fourth receiver in two years.
Denver selected Penn State wide receiver DaeSean Hamilton with the 113th pick in the draft. Hamilton played for the Broncos’ coaching staff at the Senior Bowl earlier this spring.
Hamilton, a captain for the last of his four seasons with the Nittany Lions, is a precise route-runner from the slot who lacks elite athleticism. At 6-foot-1 and just over 200 pounds, Hamilton is a big target for quarterbacks in the middle of the field.
He was great as a freshman at Penn State, catching 82 balls for 889 yards and two touchdowns, but never replicated that production again. He came close in his senior season when he caught 53 passes for 857 yards and nine touchdowns.
Hamilton joins an already crowded wide receivers room. Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders are the team’s clear top options, but they’re followed by Jordan Taylor, 2017 draft picks Isaiah McKenzie, and Carlos Henderson and 2018 picks Courtland Sutton and Hamilton. Bennie Fowler and Cody Latimer left town earlier this offseason.
The Broncos have two more picks in the 2018 Draft, both in the fifth round.
