The Broncos added another inside linebacker, late in the sixth round on Saturday.
Keishawn Bierrias, a former Washington Husky, was selected with the 217th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. The Broncos only have one remaining selection, the 226th pick.
Bierria stands at 6-feet and 230 pounds. He performed well at Washington, overcoming his physical and athletic limitations. He seems to have good instincts but whether he can transition to the NFL is a big question.
The former three-star recruit was named second-team All-Pac 12 in his junior and senior seasons. He didn’t rack up huge tackle numbers in college, but he did manage to total 11 combined forces and recovered fumbles during his time at Washington.
Bierria will fight for a backup job with Zaire Anderson, Jerrol Garcia-Williams and Josey Jewell, whom the Broncos drafted out of Iowa in the fifth round. Until he earns a spot in the rotation, Bierria should be a key special teams contributor, a role that the Broncos are desperate to fill.
