The Broncos made more progress towards signing their entire 2017 draft class Thursday night, agreeing to a rookie deal with DeMarcus Walker, according to 9NEWS’ Mike Klis. The contract is reportedly worth $5 million, including a $1.8 million signing bonus, over four years.

Walker, a second-round defensive end out of Florida State, started 11 games as a sophomore on the 2014 national champion Seminole squad, picking up six tackles for losses and one sack. As a junior, the 6-foot-4, 280-pounder became dominant, recording 15.5 tackles for losses and 10.5 sacks on his way to a third-team All-ACC nod.

Walker’s 16 sacks as a senior were the second most in the FBS, and his 21.5 tackles for losses were eighth. He was named first-team All-ACC and first-team All-America.

As a pass-rush specialist, Walker could provide the inside pressure the Broncos have missed since Malik Jackson left town. If Walker can push the quarterback deep in the pocket, Von Miller and Shane Ray will have a much easier time bringing him down.

Walker’s signing leaves wide receiver Carlos Henderson as the Broncos’ only 2017 draft pick without a contract. Henderson is expected to sign a deal soon.
