The Broncos added more depth to their defensive line Thursday afternoon, after a barrage of injuries to their front seven.
Denver claimed defensive end Jimmy Bean off of waivers after the 23-year-old was released by the Raiders on Wednesday. Oakland signed Bean as a college free agent a year ago and carried him on their practice squad through last season.
Bean played collegiately at Oklahoma State, starting across from Emmanuel Ogbah, the 32nd overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Bean started his senior season with 10.5 sacks in the first seven games, before tearing his ACL.
In six preseason games with the Raiders, Bean didn’t record a tackle, but at 6-foot-5 and 256 pounds, he has all the physical tools to be successful.
The Broncos released undrafted rookie defensive back Dontrell Nelson to clear roster space for Bean.
