The Broncos lost another defender to injury late in the first quarter of Thursday night’s win against the Bears.
Defensive end Billy Winn tore his ACL on a run by Kadeem Carey with 39 seconds left in the first quarter, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Winn was tied up by an offensive lineman when defensive lineman Zach Kerr was pushed into the side of his leg. The sixth-year lineman was carted off the field.
Winn played in all 16 games for the Broncos last season, his first in Denver, posting 19 tackles and recovering a fumble during that time. After entering the league as a sixth-round draft pick of the Browns, Winn started 18 games during his three years in Cleveland. He then played the 2015 season in Indianapolis before signing with the Broncos.
The 6-foot-4, 300-pound lineman was expected to add depth at defensive end and nose tackle, in addition to being the Broncos’ emergency long snapper.
