I was at the game and disagree with some of the grades. Barberio had a couple of brutal turn overs and I would give him a C, C-. Bigras wasn’t an F IMO his ice time is so sporadic that he can’t seem to get in rhythm because he looks like he is worried that a bad shift is going to park him on the bench. EJ wasn’t an A+, he had that I noticed 2 bad turnovers and the penalty he took was awful, but outside that he was great so A-. A couple of others I would slide up or down a little, like Yak up to a b- and Big Z down to a B (come on big fella let some one timers rip instead of throwing soft wristers) all in all a great team game, and MacK was IMO the best player on the ice. I know Evan uses the advanced stats so overall I guess the only grade I would disagree strongly with is Barberio.

I thought that the most impressive part of the game and the biggest change from previous years for the AVs was the third period. They did not turtle and were able to break out from their zone most of the time. The trap helped of course. The 3rd was much more enjoyable than in the past, and my finger nails are intact this morning. Girard does not mess around when it comes to getting the puck out of his own zone. The players seem to be learning Bender’s system. Let’s see how we do in Minnesota. It should be a big test.
