Don’t mean to be flippant, but I wonder what grade you would give Jared Bednar. Other notes:
– Feel “C” is too low for bright spot Girard.
– To be fair, Wilson and Yakupov screened Condon beautifully on Kerfoot’s goal, a missile right between the two.
– Trying to be positive, Mironov has improved.
– Have to question scratching Zadorov yet again. Wonder if all the promise and excitement that he generated last year has now been effectively killed. That’s serious stuff for the Avs.

Not my grades tonight but Bednar would get an F from me. His weekend was the coaching equivalent of what Barberio did on the ice – total disaster.

Thanks for your add-on, AJ. I respect your opinion. BTW, I had posted a comment under the “Brutal Barberio” article too, which was up for a while but then mysteriously vanished. Glitch, most likely. I’m going to try once more and re-submit as much of it as I can remember. Then I think I’ll listen to your new podcast.

I agree with pretty much all these grades. That was an overall terrible performance by the Avs. Barrie is really struggling with the extra defensive assignments he’s getting with Nemeth and Lindholm injured. Girard looked human everywhere but the offensive zone, which is indeed a step down for him. That top line though – wow did Ottawa get them figured out. I’m kind of surprised Bednar didn’t bring out the blender at some point in the third to try to get them going.

That seems to be a recurring problem: other teams seem to figure out how to adjust to the Avs, but the Avs not as good at figuring out how to adjust to other teams.
