Avalanche Notebook: Nathan MacKinnon to appear on "Trailer Park Boys"

We’ve seen Nathan MacKinnon’s acting chops before. He seems to enjoy being a thespian, in addition to an “untouchable” with the Avalanche. Specifically, Nate Dawg seems to enjoy being part of a comedy act, and, no, we’re not talking about the 2016-17 version of the Avs, smart aleck.

MacKinnon’s latest acting work adventure comes in Season 11 of the hilarious, Canadian-based television show “Trailer Park Boys.” Click on the YouTube clip above to get a sneak peek of MacKinnon in “action.” Some of the heartiest, cough-inducing, rib-hurting laughs I’ve had in the last few years have come watching moments of Trailer Park Boys.

As a reminder, you can get MacKinnon The Master Thespian’s autograph today, from 5-6 p.m., at AutoNation Toyota, 10531 E. Arapahoe Rd.

SIEMENS MAKING BID FOR CALL-UP

The much-maligned Duncan Siemens, the Avs’ 2011 first-round pick that so far has been an El Busto, had a strong game the other night against the Tuscon Roadrunners. Siemens recorded his first multiple-point game of the season for the San Antonio Rampage, getting two assists, in a 4-2 victory.

It’s just that kind of performance Siemens needs in order to have any chance of getting a call-up by the Avs before the season ends. There is a strong “What have they got to lose?” sentiment among the fans to see Siemens get a chance with the big club, but you know how hockey people are. Gotta earn it, can’t be any charity, etc. etc. But the fact remains: Siemens is a first-round pick. The Avs have a lot “invested” in him, and let’s see what he can do up here in Denver.

ETC.

The Avs are last in lots of important NHL statistics, but one thing has gone right this season: faceoffs. Entering Tuesday’s game with the Blues, the Avs were second in the league in overall winning percentage (53.6), trailing only Anaheim at 54.8. Matt Duchene leads the league, at 62.7 percent. … Looks like I put something of the patented DaterJinx on Gabe Landeskog. On March 10, I wrote how the Avs should not consider trading him anymore. In the six games since, Landy has no goals and one assist and hasn’t looked too hot out there, despite playing a lot with Duchene and Mikko Rantanen. He’s a minus-6 in the last three games. I maintain my stance, but a little better production from the captain down the stretch wouldn’t hurt the cause. … Most Avs observers have been impressed with the play of Mark Barberio since coming over from Montreal. He moves his feet well and makes quick decisions with the puck. Not every one is the right one, but overall he’s been a plus. Barberio has another year left on his contract, too, at a cap-friendly $750,000. … The Avs intend to offer DU captain and Hobey Baker finalist Will Butcher a contract, as BSN reported exclusively last week. So, will Butcher sign by the Aug. 15 cutoff deadline for players of his status, or will he become a free agent and potentially sign with anyone? Good question. I haven’t been around the Pioneers all year and haven’t been able to ask him anything, and not much has been reported elsewhere on his thoughts about his future. The question is, was Butcher insulted by not getting a contract offer by the Avs last year and therefore wants to move on from the last-place organization? Or, will he let bygones be bygones and sign with the club that drafted him and play in the same spot of his college team? Hard to say right now, but I can confidently say this: the Avs will make him a nice, competitive offer.
