BOULDER — Another Buff is leaving Boulder.
Tight end Alec Pell announced on Twitter Monday that he is entering the transfer portal. He’ll have three years of eligibility remaining and can play at his new school immediately.

Pell originally joined the Buffs as an outside linebacker out of Cherry Creek High School. He converted to tight end before the 2020 season and caught one pass for 17 yards in the past two years.
Pell is the eighth Buffalo to enter the portal in the past month, joins receivers Keith Miller III, Chris Carpenter and La’Vontae Shenault, linebacker Zephaniah Maea, safety Trustin Oliver, running back Ashaad Clayton, and defensive tackle Jayden Simon.
So far, the Buffs have avoided losing any key contributors to the portal. Colorado is yet to hire a new offensive coordinator, and that decision could be a deciding factor for some offensive players who are on the fence. Only three assistant coaches are currently under contract for the 2022 season, and the decisions on the rest of the staff could be factors for some current players as well.
Still, the Buffs have been successful to this point, and losing a couple more players—assuming they aren’t impact players—could be ideal for a CU team that currently has the second-most commitment in the Pac-12 for the 2022 recruiting cycle and has some holes that could be filled with incoming transfers.
