The fallout of the Rockies-Padres brawl at Coors Field was announced on Friday.
The MLB suspended Nolan Arenado five games and Gerardo Parra four, the league announced. German Marquez was ejected following the brawl but only received a fine. Additionally, Padres pitcher Luis Perdomo is suspended for five games and Buddy Bauman is suspended for one.
Arenado and Parra will both appeal their suspensions and will play until the MLB makes a ruling.
After multiple players were hit by pitches early in the series, Trevor Story took a fastball to his lead shoulder in the first inning of Wednesday’s contest. When Perdomo’s first pitch of the third inning flew behind Arenado’s head, the star third baseman charged the mound and the benches cleared.
The brawl sparked a 5-run inning for the Rockies, the catalyst in a 6-4 victory.
Arenado is batting over .300 so far this season and ranks third on the team with six RBIs. Parra has gotten off to a slow start, but he’s notched hits in three straight games.
