Broncos practice squad and roster move tracker

In the wake of two interesting days at Dove Valley that saw the departure of T.J. Ward and the replacement of fan favorite Kyle Sloter with Brock Osweiler, who is definitely not a fan favorite, the Broncos are starting to finish up their roster.

Teams can carry up to 10 players on their practice squad who can attend team workouts and meetings, but are ineligible to play in games. Only young players who qualify through dizzying criteria can be on an NFL practice squad.

Kyle Peko, who spent most of the last year on that practice squad, will join the team’s 53-man roster in place of Shane Ray who will spend at least the first half of the season on injured reserve. Peko is the only backup nose tackle on the roster, behind his cousin Domata.

The Broncos did make a practice-squad offer to Sloter after he cleared waivers, but the rookie quarterback accepted a more lucrative offer from the Vikings to join their practice squad.

Both Kalif Raymond and Michael Schofield, who were cut yesterday by the Broncos, found new homes when they were claimed on waivers by the Jets and Chargers respectively.

Here’s the running list of players starting the season on the Broncos’ practice squad:

NT Tyrique Jarrett, Pittsburgh

TE Austin Traylor, Wisconsin

OL Dillon Day, Mississippi State

CB Marcus Rios, UCLA

OT Elijah Wilkinson, Massachusetts

WR Hunter Sharp, Utah State

LB Deiontrez Mount, Louisville

DB Dymonte Thomas, Michigan

LB Jerrol Garcia-Williams, Hawaii
