Broncos announce 32nd member of prestigious 'Ring of Fame'

The Denver Broncos announced Thursday that former head coach Red Miller was elected to the team’s Ring of Fame. Miller coached the Broncos for four seasons, winning 40 of 62 regular season games.

Miller is the only Broncos coach to be named AP NFL Coach of the Year. He won the award in 1977, the season he led the Broncos to their first Super Bowl appearance and first AFC West crown. This year will mark the 40th anniversary of the championship run.

“When you talk to the players and coaches from that period, they’ll tell you how Red pushed those teams, led by the historic Orange Crush defense, to a championship level,” Broncos President and CEO Joe Ellis said in a release from the team. “On behalf of Owner Pat Bowlen and our entire organization, we congratulate Coach Miller and look forward to honoring him as the newest member of the Denver Broncos Ring of Fame.”

Miller joins 31 other members in the Ring of Fame, including Dan Reeves, the only other coach enshrined. Eight Ring of Famers, including Randy Gradishar and Tom Jackson, played under Miller during their time in Denver.

The Broncos have not announced the date of Miller’s enshrinement, but—as is tradition—the ceremony will take place during halftime of one of the team’s home games this season.
