Who needs Hall? Namestikov is electric.

That’s like saying who needs MacKinnon because JT Compher is clutch

I’m not saying Compher or Namestnikov are Hall, but it is interesting that over the last two years, the goal stats are MacKinnon: 76, Burakovsky: 32, Namestnikov: 28, Compher: 27 and Hall: 27. Yes, Hall has more assists, but is he worth Burakovsky, Namestnikov and Compher combined ($10 million like some have said)? More than MacKinnon or Landeskog? I’d like to make sure we keep Namestnikov, Nichushkin and Burakovsky before we splurge on a winger who has been very good but not a superstar the last two years, especially since we should be able to sign all three for what Hall might command.

This is a great example of how to selectively use data to make a deeply flawed argument. Your cut-off line is two years but doesn’t account for Hall suffering a serious knee injury that cut his season to just 33 games played. He was on pace for a 27-goal season, so not spectacular, but certainly nothing to scoff at given it’s more goals than Burakovsky, Namestnikov, or Compher have ever scored in a single season.

Hell, those three players have only ever combined for two 20-goal seasons in their careers while Hall has six on his own. Hall is a better player than anyone in the Avs forward corps not named MacKinnon and probably Rantanen. Drop Hall next to an elite center for the first time in his career and it would be very interesting to see what he could do.

Someday I hope to be as good at something as MacKinnon is at hockey. The dream!

Well let’s see the price and years on upcoming contract negotiations involved for Hall and Namestnikov.
