The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman is reporting that Colorado Buffaloes head coach Mel Tucker has agreed to a deal that would make him the head coach at Michigan State.
The report states that Tucker will more than double his current salary of $2.7 million and double his assistant coaching salary pool, which was $3.15 million at Colorado. There will also be more money allocated to the Michigan State strength and condition budget.
The Detroit Free Press reported Friday evening that Tucker would interview for the job over the weekend, but Tucker shot down the rumors the next day on Twitter. Tucker also toured radio stations today to double-down publically on his commitment to Colorado.

Tucker was the head coach at Colorado for one season, in which he amassed a 5-7 record. He also signed the best recruiting class in eight years, per 247Sports.com’s composited rankings.
Michigan State’s head coach position was left vacant after Mark Dantonio stepped down earlier this month, after 13 years at the helm of the program. Dantonio had a salary of $4.4 million.
