BOULDER — Today is the day!

The Colorado Buffaloes—and the rest of the nation’s football programs—can sign players to National Letters of Intent today. They won’t have the opportunity to make signings again until the first Wednesday in February.

Almost all of Colorado’s 19 recruits are expected to sign today, in what should be a fairly drama-free affair. A couple of big names, running back Jaydn Ott and outside linebacker Samuel Okunlola, are likely to announce their decisions on Wednesday and the Buffs are among the finalists.

What to watch for on National Signing Day

Here’s what’s happened so far on signing day:

Buffs poach an in-state prospect

Colorado was only slated to bring in one recruit form Colorado in this class for the first time in decades… and maybe ever.

Instead, Colorado poached wide receiver Grant Page, a Nebraska commit, the No. 4 prospect in the Centennial State, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.

If not for Page’s last-minute announcement, the 2022 class would be the first in Boulder without a top-seven prospect in the state since 2010.

Buffs lose a linebacker

The linebackers were supposed to be the strength of this year’s recruiting class. Four of CU’s top six commits played the position.

But, on Wednesday, inside linebacker Kenny Soares announced that he will attend Northwestern instead of Colorado.

It always hurts to lose one of your top commits, but the Buffs are bringing in plenty of talent at the position, regardless.
