Evan, I’m having a “cognitive dissonance moment” here wrt Toews: his grade, then your write up on him just don’t seem to match.
On my end I’m worried Toews is headed for an injury the way Bednar is over working him.
He would probably do better if his minutes were lowered to a more humane level.
I enjoyed your grades and insights, as always Evan!

If Bura had Jost’s game, you’d give him an D-. If Jost had Bura’s game, you’d give him an A+.

D men constantly get graded down, I guess because they’re defenseman.

All goals against seemingly are their fault, when forwards play poorly, like the first goal against where the second line had a terrible mid ice shift, leading to an easy mild rush into our zone putting Graves on the defensive, and it wasn’t his fault no forward followed up his man passing to guy in the slot.

Toews, Graves, PEB and JTC over 7 minutes each on PK, give up one goal.
Jost just over 2 minutes PK time. On ice for one PK goal. He gets kudos from you. JTC? None. Graves? None. Toews? None.
Toews plays nearly 30 minutes total TOI and gets a D. Impossible with a 19-10 CF+ and +3.

Look, everybody is entitled to an opinion and you can have your favorites that you hate to see criticized. But come on with the Graves getting burned by his forwards on goal 1. He misplays the entry, a weak stick check, an even weaker arm bar attempt, stops moving his feet, gets walked through the corner due to his glacial skating, and then did fuck all to take away the pass up the slot as he chases his man down low. Yeah, Saad should have picked up the net drive too, he’s not blameless, but that whole thing started cuz of Graves’ shortcomings that have hindered him all season. The penalty late was just a cherry on his crap sundae.

MacDonald and Burroughs played that 2nd goal about as bad as possible with a terrible pinch and then an inability to keep up. Bura floated down the slot and failed to pick up a dude. Bad all around, but the D is there to do a job and those two guys are AHL tweeners at best for many reasons.

JTC was actually calling for Toews to take JTC’s man on the last PK cuz he (JTC) couldn’t be bothered to challenge the point. But you’re right, he deserves kudos.
