BOULDER — Mya Hollingshed has a new home.
The Las Vegas Aces chose Colorado’s Mya Hollingshed with the eighth pick in the first round of the 2022 WNBA Draft. She is the first player from CU drafted since Chuky Jeffery in 2013 and the first player chosen in the first round in CU’s history.
Hollingshed finished sixth all-time at CU in points (1,681) and rebounds (911), and first in games played (141). She was a two-time honorable mention All-America selection at CU. She was a two-time first-team All-Pac-12 winner as well. She led the Buffs to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2013 this season.
The Aces finished first in the Western Conference in each of the last two seasons. They advanced to the conference finals in 2021 and the WNBA Finals in 2020. Las Vegas returns three All-Stars from a season ago; A’ja Wilson, Kelsey Plum and Dearica Hamby. The Aces hired from Colorado State star Becky Hammon as head coach over the offseason to replace Bill Laimbeer.
