It’s NFL Draft week! As we get closer to kicking things off with the Tennessee Titans on the clock, many people in and around the NFL are attached to their phones with the latest gossip. Who are the teams ahead of them looking at? How is the Top 10 going to play out? How high could ‘Player X’ go?
To answer those questions, and more, I’m tapping into the wisdom of the crowd. I’ve canvased 60 mock drafts from reputable analysts, reporters and insiders. In those mocks we are able to see how things have trended and get a sense of who the sharpest minds in the media think will be on the board for each team in the first round.
Of those 60 mocks, 18 of them have happened in the month of April (I covered any notable mock that happened up through the end of the day on Monday the 21st). So for the purpose of this exercise, I will focus on three things:
- The 18 April Mock Drafts – I will prioritize them for the ‘selection’ in the Mock, as it represents the latest information post-Free Agency.
- A look back at who the three top vote getters were from March 27, the last time I did this exercise, so that we can see any notable changes that have occurred in the last few weeks.
- All of the votes since I started charting these mocks from the turn of the new year, so you can get a good sense of the trends
Before we get started, I invite you to become a DNVR Diehard and get access to my full Diehard Draft Guide, which features over 250+ prospect profiles, the final Big Board I will release later today and access to an interactive war room this weekend where you can watch our DNVR Broncos Draft Day Live show while keeping track of who’s gone where and which are the best players still left on the board. You get all of that plus a free t-shirt for just $36 this week, so jump in now!

1 – Tennessee – QB Cam Ward (Miami)
This has become accepted as fact; no notes here!
RESULTS IN 18 MOCKS SINCE 4/1:
18 – QB Cam Ward (Miami)
TOP 3 LEADERS ON 3/27:
18 – QB Cam Ward (Miami)

41 – QB Cam Ward (Miami)
10 – EDGE Abdul Carter (Penn State)
5 – WR/DB Travis Hunter (Colorado)
4 – QB Shedeur Sanders (Colorado)
2 – Cleveland – WR/CB Travis Hunter (Colorado)
When we did this exercise in late March, Carter was the favorite. The winds shifted, and now it’s become close to consensus (especially in the last 10 days or so) that Hunter will be the pick here for Cleveland.
RESULTS IN 18 MOCKS SINCE 4/1:
14 – ATH Travis Hunter (Colorado)
4 – EDGE Abdul Carter (Penn State)

***One Mock Draft had the Browns trading back up into the first round to select QB Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss)
3 – NY Giants – EDGE Abdul Carter (Penn State)
As the winds have shifted with Cleveland, the Giants have followed suit. It now is almost certain that they will pick either Carter or Hunter, whoever the Browns leave for them after the second selection.

4 – New England – T Will Campbell (LSU)
Campbell was the slight favorite a month ago but now all of the intel points to him being the runaway favorite for this spot. This one is crystallizing.

1 – T Kelvin Banks JR (Texas)
***One Mock Draft had the Patriots trading back up into the first round to select OL Josh Conerly JR (Oregon)
5 – Jacksonville – DL Mason Graham (Michigan)
Graham is still the favorite from most mocks, but there is buzz building for an offensive player here. Dane Brugler and I dropped our seven-round mocks on the same day last week with Jeanty in this spot. Don’t be surprised if more comes out with either the receiver, McMillan, or the offensive tackle, Membou, in this slot leading up to Thursday night.
RESULTS IN 18 MOCKS SINCE 4/1:
12 – DL Mason Graham (Michigan)
3 – RB Ashton Jeanty (Boise State)
1 – T Armand Membou (Missouri)
1 – TE Tyler Warren (Penn State)
1 – EDGE Jalon Walker (Georgia)
TOP 3 LEADERS ON 3/27:
17 – DL Mason Graham (Michigan)
5 – CB Will Johnson (Michigan)
3 – T Will Campbell (LSU) | WR Tetairoa McMillan (Arizona) | WR/DB Travis Hunter (Colorado)
RESULTS IN 60 MOCKS SINCE 1/1:

3 – T Will Campbell (LSU)
3 – WR Tetairoa McMillan (Arizona)
3 – WR/CB Travis Hunter (Colorado)
2 – EDGE Jalon Walker (Georgia)
1 – EDGE Abdul Carter (Penn State)
6 – Las Vegas – RB Ashton Jeanty (Boise State)
Another one that was getting close to ‘consensus’ with Jeanty as the far leader, but between the Jeanty buzz building at five and the thought that it could be a smoke screen with the Raiders at six, don’t be surprised to see this gap close in the next couple of days. Membou, Graham, Walker, and even McMillan could all be in play here.

2 – EDGE Abdul Carter (Penn State)
1 – T Armand Membou (Missouri)
1 – CB Will Johnson (Michigan)
7 – NY Jets – TE Tyler Warren (Penn State)
This is why this exercise is so interesting to track, because we’ve seen a HUGE shift in just the last couple of weeks. Most mock drafters feel like this is Membou. Will the buzz change a bit? I’m still hearing Warren in this spot. Buzz in the media is pointing to the defensive side of the ball as well. This is a fun wild card.
RESULTS IN 18 MOCKS SINCE 4/1:
13 – T Armand Membou (Missouri)
1 – TE Tyler Warren (Penn State)
1 – RB Ashton Jeanty (Boise State)

2 – EDGE Abdul Carter (Penn State)
1 – T Kelvin Banks JR (Texas)
1 – EDGE Jalon Walker (Georgia)
1 – EDGE Shemar Stewart (Texas A&M)
8 – Carolina – EDGE Jalon Walker (Georgia)
No big changes here, but I will say that this is the other ‘consensus’ pick in the Top 10 (along with Graham to Jacksonville and Jeanty to Vegas) that I think you should have in pencil and not in pen. I think it’s probably the most likely of those three options, but I think there are other ways this could go. Mason Graham, in my opinion, would be their best case scenario. Keep an eye on McMillan here as well, if he is on the board.

2 – EDGE Abdul Carter (Penn State)
2 – WR Tetairoa McMillan (Arizona)
1 – EDGE Mike Green (Marshall)
1 – DL Walter Nolen (Ole Miss)
9 – New Orleans – QB Shedeur Sanders (Colorado)
This was a jumbled mess in March … and it’s a jumbled mess now! We’ll follow the data for the sake of this exercise, and say the pick is Sanders, but my sources say this is not a quarterback in this slot (check back with their next selection). Look at the line of scrimmage instead here for the Saints, and don’t be surprised if it’s a name that catches a lot of us by surprise.
RESULTS IN 18 MOCKS SINCE 4/1:
3 – QB Shedeur Sanders (Colorado)
3 – QB Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss)
2 – LB Jihaad Campbell (Alabama)

1 – T Armand Membou (Missouri)
1 – EDGE Mike Green (Marshall)
1 – S Malaki Starks (Georgia)
1 – DL Derrick Harmon (Oregon)
10 – Chicago – T Armand Membou (Missouri)
So Warren is the favorite in the month of April after not really being mocked there all that often in the three months prior. You’ll start to see more iterations of this exercise include Jeanty falling to this spot, which I think the Bears would jump at. Ditto for Mason Graham, the defensive tackle from Michigan. Membou gets the nod in this slot, and if he were to fall I don’t think it would be too much further than 10 or 11.

11 – San Francisco – T Kelvin Banks JR (Texas)
Our first tie at the top! I’m giving the nod for Banks for two reasons. First, the mocks penciling him in here have happened more recently this month when compared to Johnson. Second, I’ve heard more buzz in the last week surrounding Banks going this high than I have with Johnson. I still think this is more likely to be a defensive pick for the 49ers, however. I’ve gone back and forth between edge rusher and cornerback.

1 – T Josh Simmons (Ohio State)
1 – S Malaki Starks (Georgia)
12 – Dallas – WR Matthew Golden (Texas)
With the realization that Jeanty is extremely unlikely to slide to 12, sharp mocks have been pointing to the wide receiver position for Dallas most of the time, and it’s split right down the middle between Golden and McMillan. That’s how it goes when I speak to people around Dallas as well. With all of the buzz that T-Mac could be off the board at this slot, I’m starting to think Golden is the most likely Cowboys pick here.

13 – Miami – CB Jahdae Barron (Texas)
When I did this exercise a month ago, Braron had 2 votes and Johnson had just 1. Now? Those two guys are basically neck and neck for who the pick would be. The trend gives a slight lean to Barron, but Johnson more fits the Chris Grier prototype as a traitsy underclassman at a big school. I think Johnson would be the pick if both were on the board, and I think Banks would be the pick over him as well if San Francisco takes Johnson instead. But we’ll stay true to the exercise here.

It’s safe to say that everyone thinks the Colts are going to take a tight end, and all signs point to one of the top two guys being there on the board for them in this spot. But does Indy value Loveland high enough to take him here? Teams seem to be all over the board on the Michigan tight end. Some see him as a Top 10 talent, reportedly. Others see a clear drop-off between him and Warren.

Mike Green is still the favorite that everyone is penciling in. Still … I wouldn’t rule them out for a surprise selection here. This is a team that truly seems to live by the ‘Best Player Available’ strategy, so I suspect they will stick to their board.

Another example of the movement we see late in the process as more information flows. Grant and Pearce were the two leaders in the clubhouse last month, but between the two of them we’ve seen just one big mock draft call their name here. Instead, it’s been the Georgia pass rusher (Williams) and the Texas tackle (who could play guard), Banks, go in this spot. I think this is the floor for Jalon Walker if he slides on draft night.

20 – Denver – RB Omarion Hampton (UNC)
This has become one of the most popular selections in the second half of Mock Drafts around the NFL. I’ve heard that the buzz is real behind the scenes. Denver is one team that keeps popping up in media reports as a possible trade up candidate. Could they also trade down? I think everything is on the table as we’re 48 hours out.
RESULTS IN 18 MOCKS SINCE 4/1:

1 – EDGE Mike Green (Marshall)
1 – WR Isaiah Bond (Texas)
1 – WR Luther Burden (Missouri)
21 – Pittsburgh – QB Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss)
So will it be quarterback or defensive tackle? With Harmon off the board in this exercise along with Sanders, the pick is Dart. My intel says this is unlikely. If they can’t deal out of this spot in this scenario, I do think Grant or Nolen would be the most likely pick.
RESULTS IN 18 MOCKS SINCE 4/1:

1 – RB Quinshon Judkins (Ohio State)
1 – CB Shavon Revel (ECU)
22 – LA Chargers – DL Kenneth Grant (Michigan)
Mason Taylor is the sneaky pick here. I’d keep an eye out for that one. Everything I’ve heard is that it’s a pass catcher in this spot. If Loveland is off the board, could the true junior go in this spot? Grant has the obvious Harbaugh connection, and he ends up as the pick here. I do think Ezeiruaku makes a lot of sense as well.

23 – Green Bay – CB Jahdae Barron (Texas)
This feels like the potential floor for Mykel Williams if he slips past Arizona, and Barron gets the nod as the second-place vote getter. He’s gotten the most picks over the course of the entire offseason.

24 – Minnesota – S Nick Emmanwori (South Carolina)
It’s pretty clear that most feel the Vikings will address the secondary if they stick and pick at this spot. Emmanwori has been the most popular selection here (he was actually my pick for the Vikings way back in January), and I do think his skillset meshes really well with Brian Flores. Many mocks have them trading out (which is why the sum of those picks is under 18). I’d keep an eye on Zabel as well.

Heavy dose of offensive linemen here for the Texans, with a lot of them likely on the board. I think you can make the argument for a number of those guys. Here, the pick is Simmons, but I wonder if they’d try to make a move up the board for Banks if he falls far enough.

26 – LA Rams – OL Josh Conerly (Oregon)
The Rams are literally all over the board here. Barron is at the top of the list, but far from a sure thing (and would a reunion with Jalen Ramsey throw a wrench in that?). I feel like this is a pass catcher, either one of the remaining receivers or a player that is not listed here at all in TE Mason Taylor (LSU). Here, the pick is Conerly, who I’m hearing love from all over the board in round one.

Starks has become the runaway favorite here, and he very much FEELS like a Ravens type of pick. Aside from that, it certainly feels like a defensive lineman ends up in purple.

This certainly feels like a ‘meat and potatoes’ type of selection for the Lions, with a large majority of the picks going towards either side of the line of scrimmage. Jackson, Zabel, and Ezeiruaku all feel like Lions types of selections.

I didn’t love the top options for the Commanders in the March version of this exercise, but I will say that a couple of the names that have crept into the discussion better represent what I think GM Adam Peters and coach Dan Quinn are looking for. Ezeiruaku is a good fit. Emmanwori makes a lot of sense. Tuimoloau as well. This feels like the floor for Hampton.

30 – Buffalo – CB Maxwell Hairston (Kentucky)
The Bills have certainly become more streamlined, with the focus being on defensive line or cornerback for the Bills. The two most popular choices are Grant and Hairston, and with the tackle off the board the pick is the Kentucky corner. For what it’s worth, these are the two positions I’ve heard most often connected to Buffalo behind the scenes as well.

Simmons has picked up a ton of steam and seems to be the heavy favorite, either at 31 or via trade-up. If they don’t land Simmons, everything I’ve heard behind the scenes points to a defensive lineman or, potentially, a cornerback. I’m not sure if Ersery would be that pick.
