Delay (or “open”) is probably the single most common entry that you will see in a typical Denver Nuggets game. It is the entry that lends itself most to read and react basketball. It also starts with the ball in Nikola Jokic’s hands.
In this video, I share 5 unique reads out of Delay that will help to explain how read and react basketball works. The 5 plays are:
- Delay Chicago – One of the base actions in the Delay series
- Delay Backdoor – a backdoor cut from the first action. I show this option to help setup why the FLARE action is different from the base actions.
- Delay Flare – The base set out of the Delay Flare series.
- Delay Flare Slip – A preferred action of Jeff Green and Aaron Gordon.
- Delay Flare DHO – The main (but not only) continuation fo the Delay Flare series.
