Playing with the Pac-12 All-Stars on a summer trip down to Australia, one can only imagine the scene of Colorado senior big man Wesley Gordon leaping, swatting, and dunking on the continent that gave us kangaroos, koalas, and Vegemite.

In his first game action against the Melbourne Tigers, Gordon did plenty of leaping as he pulled down 10 rebounds–a team high–and scored six points. While there isn’t any video of the performance, we all know what these performances from Gordon look like at this point. The only disappointment is that no one had a microphone in front of him to hear his thoughts on Australian food, thus far.

In a recent interview with Neill Woelk of CUBuffs.com, Gordon talked about the opportunity traveling down to Australia would provide him moving forward.

“I’m excited,” Gordon said. “I get to play against some of the top players in our league and I get to play against some of the top players in the world. It should be a lot of fun and I should learn a lot.”

This is Gordon’s final offseason with the Buffaloes, though his first without former teammate Josh Scott. Sure, the two played well together. But whenever Scott would be out of the lineup due to injury, fans saw a different, more aggressive, side of the 6-foot-9 forward. He talked to Woelk about just that.

“I’m going to expect those kind of (double-double) numbers from myself all the time,” Gordon said. “I’ll be the first person who says I should be doing that.

“But most of all, I want to go deep into the NCAA Tournament. I’ve been to the NCAA Tournament a couple times before, but for my senior year, I want to go deep into the tournament. That’s going to be our goal from the beginning.”

Now that we know he’s still hitting the boards, can someone please for the love of anything holy get a camera in front of him and take him to eat some meat pies or something?!
