Hello Colorado Rockies fans and welcome to the future.

My name is Drew Creasman and I am honored and humbled to officially begin my tenure as the Managing Editor of BSN Rockies. We are excited to begin a new era here at BSN and a new Rockies season down at 20th and Blake. But we are even more excited to share with you a little bit about what you can expect from us, starting today.

We are well aware that there is no shortage of awesome Rockies coverage both on the internet and in more traditional media; we aim to be the best just the same. We will be bringing you daily breaking news and in-depth analysis from our team of credentialed writers on the scene, in addition to unique content you cannot get anywhere else in the world.

Daily Coverage/News:

At BSN Rockies, we are on the clock 24/7 ready to jump on any and all Rockies-related news or rumors. Nothing shall escape our sight and we promise to report it all to you with accuracy and swiftness on a daily basis. Culling our own sources along with those both regional and national, we were the first local publication to report the Corey Dickerson for Jake McGee trade as well as the 2016 NRI list. We hope to continue and build on that tradition.

Naturally, we’ll have recaps and analysis of every game including on-site coverage for the vast majority of home games. Yours truly, along with our team of trusted writers, will be a regular fixture at Coors Field and will even be bringing you reports direct from spring training. We will have daily conversations with players, coaches, and front office personnel — and even other journalists who cover the team — in order to bring you the most complete picture of the Rockies possible.

Without bias or agenda, completely independent from the team, corporate owners, or fan perspective we will be reporting the news unfiltered and unbridled every day. Our goal is to become the most trusted and consistent source of Rockies news available anywhere.

Also, at BSN Rockies there will be a clear distinction between news and opinion though you will be getting plenty of both.

Three Dimensional Coverage

Our first step in providing news that goes beyond the basic facts but doesn’t steer into wild, perspective-based speculation is something we are calling “three-dimensional” coverage. We want to give our readers the most in-depth look they can get at what it’s like to be a Major League Baseball player, coach, trainer, or executive.

This means having ongoing conversations with all of these people about their travel schedules, diet and workout regimens, entertainment choices, offseason life, charity work, and anything else you can think of.

We want to make the Rockies feel less like something untouchable and far away and hope to become your home for getting to know this team beyond the stats and scores. With a few momentary exceptions, our goal is neither to love, fix, or bemoan the Rockies but instead to give you the most accurate and complete picture of who they are.

Audio/Video:

A huge component of accomplishing that task will be our dedication to bringing you quality, cutting-edge audio and visual content. In addition to weekly — sometimes biweekly podcasts we will have regular videos featuring interviews with players and coaches (and maybe an executive or two!) as well as roundtable conversations/debates, series recaps, and mail bags where our team will answer your most pressing questions about the Colorado Rockies.

We believe that seeing and hearing the subjects of any given news story can greatly enhance the overall experience and give listeners/viewers a much deeper understanding of the conversation at hand.

Our podcasts and videos will be a unique opportunity for Rockies fans to hear straight from the source without a middleman interpreting for you. Our highest goal will forever be to put our subjects in context rather than to take them out of it. We don’t aim to tell you what to think, but rather to give you as much information and nuance as possible and let you decide for yourself.

But our multimedia section won’t just be a place for hard-hitting journalism; we also intend to have quite a bit of fun with it. Be on the lookout for our pop-culture questionnaire and some pointed questions about musical taste, hidden talents, and humorous happenings from the field or clubhouse that often get missed.

Community Participation:

We want to hear from you. You can find us on Twitter @BSNRockies (I’m @DrewCreasman) or email drew.e.creasman@gmail.com with questions or comments and we will answer (the good ones) in articles, videos, or podcasts. The line is always open.

While our goal is to remain as neutral as possible, we also understand that passion is an irrevocable part of sports, so I will be encouraging our writers to engage in the debate around this team through regular opinion and analysis columns that will be strictly scrutinized on the facts during the editorial process. I would also like to encourage our more ambitious readers to participate in this section of our site by writing letters to the editor to the same address above.

Our participation in the local community isn’t just for show but is implanted in every part of who we are. All publications come with some form of advertising but at BSN Rockies, we are proud of our sponsors because they are the local restaurants and businesses that we visit in the Denver Metro area every day. The advertisements on our site aren’t just some random nuisance but instead are resources for the local sports fan, pointing you toward ticket or merchandice deals or a game-time happy hour. We are thrilled and honored to have their support and to support them in return.

In Conclusion:

We are ecstatic to begin anew and we hope you join us on this long, crazy ride.

It’s difficult to operate without any kind of bias, so here is ours: We fundamentally believe that the Colorado Rockies are an absolutely fascinating professional sports team. We will outright reject most dichotomies other than being in favor of facts and against ignorance, but you will hear no talk on this site of the Rockies being boring. None.

We will not lazily avoid our responsibilities because of a poor record or confounding transactions. There is always a story. Our job is to find it and show you just how interesting this organization, and this crazy beautiful game, really is.
