With the Denver Broncos trailing 17-0 and halftime looming, it seemed like a dark day of football in Indianapolis for the orange and blue.

Then, just before halftime, the Colts’ punter Pat McAfee booted the ball and Omar Bolden took his chance at running to glory.

Bolden caught the punt, moved to the right and outside, then took the ball up the sideline and to the house. The return was electrifying, sensational and a giant momentum swing just before the break.

While Bolden’s speed allowed him to blaze past most of Indy’s special teams unit, it was special teams captain David Bruton who laid the crucial block on McAfee to spring Bolden for the tremendous touchdown. Bennie Fowler also had a crucial block on the play which helped swing the momentum of the game.

It was Bolden’s first punt return touchdown and the Broncos first of the season as well. The 83-yard touchdown made it the seventh-longest play in Denver Broncos history. It was only the second time since 1985 a half ended with a touchdown since DeSean Jackson‘s return against the New York Giants in 2010.

Denver eventually lost 24-27  after dumb defensive penalties doomed the team.
