DENVER – In the top of the seventh in Thursday afternoon’s series finale against the Atlanta Braves, Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado was removed from the game with a hand injury for the second time this week.

Famously, Arenado was hit in the hand on Sunday by Miami Marlins pitcher Vance Worley, but he missed just one start. As the Braves were putting a six-spot on the scoreboard, Arenado attempted to backhand a hard sinking liner off the bat of Lane Adams and was struck by the baseball, also falling hard on the same hand that was hit on Sunday.

He has not missed a game since being hit by the pitch, but he didn’t start Monday.

Immediately, head trainer Keith Dugger and manager Bud Black were on the scene and Arenado was removed. Ryan McMahon moved to third base and Mark Reynolds came in to play first.
