WATCH: Kyle Freeland leaves game after taking 115 mph liner to the upper body

Colorado Rockies rookie left-hander Kyle Freeland exited Monday’s crucial game against the Arizona Diamondbacks early after being hit by a comeback.

To start the fourth inning Freeland faced J.D. Martinez, who already doubled earlier in the ballgame. Martinez drilled a 92 mph fastball right back up the middle, coming off his bat at 114.8 mph.

The ball appears to hit Freeland both on the upper arm and on the jaw.

Freeland left the game under his own power and never even fell to the ground.

Martinez’ batted ball which resulted in a single was his hardest hit ball of 2017.

Freeland is 11-10 in 149.2 innings pitched in this his first year at the MLB level. The Denver kid has a 4.03 ERA and a 4.63 FIP with a very high 55 percent ground ball rate.
