All year, Colorado State’s offense has left something to be desired. But, as of late, the offense has been clicking.
They played well last week in the win over the UNLV Rebels, and they were hot to start Saturday in New Mexico against the Lobos. After Trent Matthews interception followed by Deionte Gaines touchdown, the Rams led 7-0. UNM tied the game up with a tough, one-yard touchdown run by Jhurell Pressley and CSU answered right back.
Nick Stevens was on fire, going 4-5 on the drive including passing for three third down conversions. One of those conversions went to tight end Kivon Cartwright — who really helped the offense get going Saturday — for a touchdown.
Cartwright starts on the left side of the line and drags right until he’s open, when Nick Stevens finds him for the touchdown. This score put the Rams ahead 14-7 with 3:24 left in the first quarter.
