Over the last few weeks, five former Colorado State Rams football players have competed in college all-star games. On Saturday, both the East-West Shrine Game and NFLPA Collegiate Bowl were played, with four former Rams suiting up.
In the East-West Shrine Game, it was tight end Kivon Cartwright and linebacker Cory James, while offensive lineman Sam Carlson and cornerback DeAndre Elliott played in the Collegiate Bowl later that day.
The biggest highlight of the day came when Cartwright caught a touchdown from West quarterback Vernon Adams. It started a 29 straight point run by the West as they won 29-9.
Meanwhile, in the Collegiate Bowl, Elliott’s National team defeated Carlson and the American team 18-17.
These four young men are hoping their performances throughout their careers and in the college all-star games are enough to get them noticed by NFL scouts so they can become Next Level Rams.
Currently, there are seven former Colorado State players in the NFL. Two of them play for the Denver Broncos: Shaquil Barrett, Ty Sambrailo. The others are all over the league: Crockett Gillmore (Baltimore Ravens), Weston Richburg (New York Giants), Garrett Grayson (New Orleans Saints), Erik Pears (San Francisco 49ers) and Shelley Smith (Miami Dolphins).
Another former Rams player, Kevin Pierre-Louis, is looking to take that next step, too. Read the interview with his trainer Kerry Bennett here.
