Wade Phillips is in Denver today to interview with Gary Kubiak for the vacant defensive coordinator position.
Its been long speculated that the job would be between Kubiak’s former coordinator and Joseph. It bodes well for Phillips that he is in Denver with the job still open as it doesn’t appear the Bengals are willing to part ways with their secondary coach.
Phillips holds a 82-61 record as a head coach in the NFL (16-16 in Denver from 93′-94′) and would provide experience to Denver’s staff.
If Phillips were to get the job it would likely mean a schematic change from a 4-3 base defense to a 3-4. This might be a welcome change for the likes of Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware, who are both familiar with 3-4 systems and may thrive returning to it.
