DeAndre Elliott is one of 15 former Colorado State Rams football players who is looking to become a “Next Level Ram.”
Elliott, an accomplished cornerback with CSU, was one of two players invited to the NFL Scouting Combine, which took place Feb. 23-29. On the 29th, Elliott competed with the rest of the defensive backs, really making a name for himself.
During the Combine, Elliott’s 41-inch vertical was the second-best among defensive backs, as was his 3.94 second 20-yard shuttle. (See Elliott in the Combine here.)
“I feel like it helped a lot,” Elliott said of his Combine experience improving his Draft stock. “I wasn’t a big-time name. Just showing I could compete with everybody else in the country. Just coming out on top, it’s a blessing.
“I feel like I turned a lot of heads and people are starting to know my name more,” he explained.
Elliott was superb 10 days ago in Indianapolis, but, due to a hamstring injury, he wasn’t able to perform during Pro Day. Still, he was gracious enough to talk to the media.
And, just like the other former Rams, Elliott would love to represent his school by playing football professionally.
“It would mean a great deal to me. This is where I graduated from. This is where I went to school,” Elliott explained. “Who wouldn’t want to be at CSU?”
And finally, Elliott said he was disappointed he couldn’t run and attempt to go for a faster 40-yard dash time. At the Combine, he finished with a 4.55 second 40-yard dash officially. But, he said Wednesday, “I’m at least 4.38 all day, man.”
