Torrey Craig, who impressed in Las Vegas at Summer League, has come to an agreement with the Denver Nuggets on a two-way contract.

Olgun Uluc of Fox Sports Australia is saying that the deal is not signed due to logistical reasons but the two sides are still nearing an agreement. That report was followed up when the deal was later confirmed by Christopher Dempsey of Altitude Sports. The signing was first reported by  Sportando.

Signing a two-way contract means that Craig will end playing most of his games in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where he will be able to showcase his talents to NBA personnel on a much more consistent basis against stronger competition. Craig will also be allotted up to 45 days to play for the Nuggets and get paid a prorated NBA-level salary while with Denver.

Craig averaged 11.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and one block in 22.2 minutes per game with the Nuggets Summer League team and shot 46.9 percent from the field. In his best performance of Summer League, he carried the Nuggets to an 87-81 victory in their first playoff game by scoring 27 points on 8-14 shooting and 10-11 from the free throw line to go with 11 rebounds and three blocks in 29 minutes of action. Craig scored the Nuggets last five points of the game to secure the victory and defended all five positions at a high level.

The Nuggets are thin on the wing and have just Wilson Chandler, Juancho Hernangomez, and Will Barton as players who can spend time at the small forward spot, two of whom small forward is not their natural position. Bringing Craig onto the roster on a two-way deal as injury insurance is a sound move at a cheap price. Craig’s ability to defend multiple positions, toughness, and ability to play within his skill-set offensively allows him to help fill a void that currently exists on the Nuggets roster.
